On the Krusevac polygon Ravnjak, two days ago, a five-day multinational civil-military exercise “Balkan Response 2018” was finished. Apart from Serbia, members of the army from six European countries also took part, as well as the United Nations for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said the world is becoming an unsafe place in which different threats come from different parties and that the Serbian Armed Forces is obliged to prepare and respond to any threat. The Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Ljubisa Dikovic, emphasized that the exercise is of great importance, because, he pointed out, nothing is new when we say that today nuclear, chemical and biological weapons represent a great threat, but it is new that this is in some modern wars used. 370 members of the armed forces of Serbia, Austria, Belarus, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro and Spain participated in the exercise, as well as members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, the Red Cross of Serbia, the General Hospital Krusevac and the Krusevac Health Center.
Representatives of Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, Italy, Montenegro, Spain and the USA attended as observers of the exercises.
The organizer of the exercise, which was held from 20 to 26 May, is the Training Command of the Serbian Armed Forces.
