NATO Deputy Secretary General calls for strengthened partnerships to accelerate innovation

Speaking virtually at the “U.S. – Romania Economic Forum: From Security to Prosperity” conference on Wednesday (28 September 2022), Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană highlighted that strengthening partnerships, not least with the private sector, is essential to accelerate innovation and keep NATO strong in a more competitive and dangerous world.

Mr Geoană further outlined NATO’s response to Russia’s war against Ukraine, including strong political and practical support for Kyiv, and major enhancements to the Alliance’s deterrence and defense.

The conference marked the 25th anniversary of the US-Romania strategic partnership, which the Deputy Secretary General referred to as an “anchor of Romania’s foreign policy and national interest.” It was organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest and the Aspen Institute Romania.
