What is “Hybrid Warfare”?

After the Russian intervention in Ukraine, the media are increasingly talking about the so-called hybrid warfare, combining military, non-military, and non-conventional acts that can be directed against a state, its army, or an international organization. The US Mission to NATO announced on its Twitter account a graphical and textual explanation stating that the Western Military Alliance is continually intensifying methods to counter hybrid warfare. It is alleged that it can include various kinds of unconventional actions such as spreading misinformation, cyber-attacks, organizing sabotage and fraud, and undertaking armed attacks. In order to be ready and effectively opposed to such threats, NATO has organized rapid response teams made up of experts from different fields. In addition, NATO member states constantly exchange intelligence, and organize exercises.
