Croatia supports forming the Kosovo army

Croatian Defense Minister, Damir Krsticevic has been in the Croatian Defense Ministry for talks with Rustem Berisha, the Kosovo Defense Minister, about the forming the Kosovo army, and on other topics. On this occasion, Krsticevic said that his country was ready to help Kosovo as it helped Macedonia and Montenegro.

“The Croatian Army is an example of the professionalism. We are ready to transfer experiences from our path to Euro-Atlantic integration to our friends from Kosovo” he added. Minister Berisha informed his Croatian counterpart about the transformation of the “Kosovo Security Forces” into the “Army of Kosovo” after the parliament in Pristina adopted a set of laws that enabled this measure.

“The new Kosovo Army’s mandate will enable to be a multi-ethnic and professional military formation that will serve the interests of all citizens of Kosovo, our state and the entire region,” Berisha said. He added that the formation of the “Kosovo Army” is strongly supported by the United States. Berisha added that the Republic of Croatia is a friendly country for Kosovo, and its strategic partner. That is why the goal of his visit to Zagreb is further improvement of the cooperation between Croatia and Kosovo in the interest of peace and stability of the whole region. The Kosovo Defense Minister also pointed out that Croatia can learn a lot from it, and that NATO membership is a strategic goal for Kosovo.
