NATO: “In the autumn the biggest military exercise in the last 30 years”

NATO members are intensively preparing for one of the largest military exercises since the end of the Cold War 30 years ago that will be held in Norway, as well as in the waters of the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea, from October 25 to November 7. The exercise is called “Trident Juncture 2018” and will include 40,000 soldiers from all Western Union alliance members. They will have fire support in the form of 120 planes and more than 70 combat boats, and will train the defense of Norway in the event of an aggression of an imaginary land. It is interesting that Sweden and Finland will take part in the exercise, even though they are not NATO members. Apart from the joint defense of members of that organization from the attack of the enemy on the exercise, the ability of NATO logistics units to successfully organize the supply of food, weapons, and other necessities for a large number of soldiers in case of need will be checked. The planners of this exercise stated that it was designed to show that NATO troops are well-trained, unique and capable of large-scale joint actions, and ready to respond to any threat to that organization and its members, no matter who it comes from. Otherwise, it is expected that the exercise will be extremely bad during the exercise, so this will be another challenge for the participants and their endurance.
