Conference “NATO Engages”

On 3rd December 2019, a conference “NATO Engages” was held in London. It was organized by the Atlantic Council of the United States, GLOBSEC, the Royal College of London, Munich Security Conference (MSC) and the Royal United Instituted Services Institute (RUSI). The event was organized in partnership with NATO’s Department of Public Diplomacy (NATO PDD) and the UK Government just one day before the NATO Leaders’ Meeting in London. The representative of the Atlantic Council of Serbia at this prestigious conference in Westminster was Dino Krcić, a member of the Atlantic Council of Serbia and President of the YATA Serbia-Youth Branch of the Council. Some of the panelists at the conference included NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Justin Trudeau – Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Ruth – Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Andzej Duda – President of Poland, Zoran Zaev – Deputy Prime Minister of Macedonia, Erna Solberg – Prime Minister of Norway, Ministers of Defense of Romania, Estonia , Lithuania, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Georgia and the United States Secretary of State for Defense, Ben Voles, as well as representatives from SkyNews, CNN, the BBC, The Economist and other reputable media, the non-governmental sector, academia, industry, security and politics. The keynote of the event was “Innovating the Alliance” and some of discussed topics were: NATO’s role in maintaining world peace, defending and discouraging potential attackers in a new era, the future of war – artificial intelligence and hypersonics, climate change and their impact on security, investment in technological development, NATO’s partnership with Australia, the military in space and the fight against misinformation.
